Nick Lucas, the district’s Director of Safety and Security, has decades of experience in law enforcement, as well as 8 years in the U.S. Navy. He recognized the district’s need for a comprehensive emergency management approach. While looking at various organizations for guidance, Nick discovered that Raptor, who the district uses for visitor management, is a mission partner of The “I Love U Guys” Foundation.
“When I saw the Raptor partnership with The “I Love U Guys” Foundation, it just made sense,” Nick says of why he chose to implement Raptor Emergency Management. “Once I saw that those relationships were in place, it was pretty much a no-brainer.”
Coordinating safety protocols across various groups of people and campuses can be challenging without the proper tools and support.
It begins with drills and preparing for emergencies. “We put together a drill schedule each year and publish that schedule for all the Safety Coordinators,” Nick says. “Raptor has been a very effective solution for us. If I need to present to my Board of Education on a particular set of drills or just overall compliance, it’s very easy to pull up the report and put it together, each with graphics that make it a very effective presentation.”
Since Raptor is 100% aligned with The “I Love U Guys” Foundation protocols, the district can be confident everyone is following the same procedures during drills and emergencies. “Making it as simple as possible for staff in the schools and for the students to follow these protocols makes Raptor very effective. That has been a huge help for us just getting that common message across of what to do in the event of an emergency.”
