Security vestibules installed in Wolcott schools

WOLCOTT The Board of Education installed vestibules at all five of its schools over the summer at a cost $182,000.
The district paid for the security upgrade using savings due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
The vestibules improve safety by allowing visitors to show their ID to a security aide at a teller window before gaining access to the building, Superintendent of Schools Anthony Gasper said. When a visitor arrives, a security aide scans the persons ID and runs it through a national database, called Raptor.
Parents who drop off forgotten lunches or school items may do so using a drop box at the security window rather than entering the building. In addition, the district has made all entrances compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
