A small inkling that something isn’t quite right with a student can now be lifted from your staffs’ shoulders and entered into StudentSafe™. A few clicks are all it takes for staff to get this information into a secure place where school counselors can take action.
Typically, staff already do this, each in their own way. StudentSafe gives them the opportunity to enter these concerns into a secure, central location so counselors can quickly identify a student needing support. Staff know their concerns are valued and acted upon in the best interests of the student.
A Student Chronology may develop over time, by documenting the various concerns, corresponding interventions and reactions. Counselors can see patterns emerge quickly and adjust to better address a student’s situation.
Having documentation of a student’s path can provide significant insight into the student’s unique needs, empowering school counselors and administrators with the information necessary to intervene and if necessary, initiate a suicide risk assessment or Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA).
Establishing categories in StudentSafe—such as withdrawing, friend struggles, outbursts/meltdowns, hungry, bruised, unkempt, irregular attendance— enables staff to enter concerns using consistent terminology.
When staff use consistent terminology administrators can view trends across campuses, grade levels, demographics or other cohorts, and more efficiently and effectively direct resources.
