MISHAWAKA, IN – A local school district is upgrading its security procedures.

Warsaw Community Schools is installing something called the “Raptor System.” It scans visitor IDs, checking to see if they are a registered sex offender.

It works with government-issued IDs like drivers licenses and will keep a digital log of people coming into the school.

The school system will also now perform criminal background checks for all volunteers.
