Florida DOE Selects Raptor as a Partner for Alyssa’s Law Compliance

Days after the somber third anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, the Florida Department of Education named Raptor as an approved partner for Floridas Alyssa’s Law mandate.

Florida public and charter schools are required to have a mobile panic alert system implemented by August 1, 2021. Schools must act knowledgeably and swiftly to choose the right partner and solution to meet this approaching deadline.

Continue reading to learn how you can exceed requirements with a trusted partner that is currently used in 73% of Florida districts.

Exceed State Requirements

Built in collaboration with safety experts and schools across the country, Raptor Alert is a mobile panic alert system that expedites awareness and response to emergencies. The system is customizable to your emergency protocols and empowers teachers and staff to:

  • quickly summon help for localized incidents and school- or district-wide emergencies from their mobile device, desktop, or tablet
  • call 9-1-1 directly from the app
  • communicate in real-time through group messaging
  • share their location on an interactive map as well as critical documents, building maps, and floor plans with incident commanders, staff, and first responders
  • speak the same language during an emergency by ensuring compliance with your protocols

The intuitive system also allows users to seamlessly switch between campuses without having to worry about their panic button or the alerts that are sent out being tied to where their main office is. This capability reduces the potential for false alarms and expedites response by letting everyone know exactly where they are needed. Raptor only accesses and tracks user location during an active emergency.

The system integrates with the Raptor safety platform that is purpose-built for K-12 and trusted by over 35,000 U.S. schools.

Improve Your Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery

Having a panic alert system is critical, but a successful emergency response hinders on how well your school community is prepared to act. That’s why Raptor has bundled Raptor Alert with our powerful drill management solution. This empowers schools to efficiently conduct drills within Raptor Alert, enabling students, teachers, staff, and first responders (if participating) to become familiar with the system and develop the muscle memory that is required for confident, streamlined emergency response.
