Getting Started

If you are new to Behavioral Threat Assessment, we offer training programs to learn essential knowledge on school violence prevention and the critical role of BTA in maintaining a safe school environment. Our trainings offer step-by-step guidance on how to use BTA procedures and tabletop exercises that allow participants to practice using BTA procedures in actual cases.

BTA training is available at the Basic, Advanced and Train-the-Trainer levels. All training is provided by BTA experts with decades of direct experience using behavioral threat assessment to address threatening behavior and situations.

Working Through
the Process

If you have a BTA team and need coaching through the process of BTA and/or support in active cases, our Expert Guidance will enhance your BTA efforts with the right support tailored to your needs, including:

  • Virtual team coaching to ensure BTA processes are correctly followed
  • Guidance on complex cases, helping your team find and use intervention resources while documenting every step
  • After-action reviews to analyze incidents, understand causes and identify improvements
  • On-demand support for BTA-related questions as they arise, such as how to navigate BTA workflows within Raptor’s StudentSafe™ software

Evaluating and Enhancing Your BTA Program

As your BTA program grows and evolves, the Strategic Review becomes an invaluable resource for ensuring scalability and sustainability. This thorough evaluation examines your existing BTA team and program to ensure best practice adherence and creates an action plan for addressing gaps.

For new BTA teams and programs, customers receive expert guidance on team structure and placement, sample policies, model BTA procedures, and an action plan to develop a BTA program.

Using Technology to Enhance Effectiveness

To effectively manage your BTA cases and ensure adherence to best practices, schools can leverage case documentation tools and support through Raptor’s StudentSafe software. StudentSafe allows schools to select their preferred BTA workflow, including models such as NTAC/SIGMA, CSTAG, Salem-Keizer Cascade, the Florida model, the South Carolina model, or a customized workflow.

For users of StudentSafe software, the SIGMA team of experts is available to assist with all case documentation inquiries and help configure the software to meet your specific needs.
