JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Clay County school district will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all schools to improve campus safety for students and faculty.

“Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings and on our campuses at all times and the Raptor system will allow us to do that,” a release from the school district said. “The Raptor system will better allow us to track visitors, contractors and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students, staff and visitors.”

Visitors will be required to present a valid state-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system. The Raptor system checks a national database to ensure that registered sexual offenders cannot enter any school building.

The system only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth and photo. Additional visitor data from the driver’s license is not gathered and is not accessible to any of the users. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a temporary badge that identifies the visitor, the date and the purpose of his/her visit.

A visitors badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. In the event that a person does not have identification, he/she can still be given access to the building, but will be escorted by a school staff member.

Anyone wanting to learn more about the visitor management system can visit the Raptor Technologies website. If you have any questions for district personnel, call your child’s school, the district’s Office of Safety & Security at 904-284-6524 or the Division of Support Services at 904-284-6517.
